Revolution Bars Owner Files for Administration, Resulting in Job Losses and Business Closures
The Revel Collective, owner of Revolution Bars, has filed for administration, leading to the closure of 14 Revolution Bars, six Revolucion de Cuba bars, and one Peach Pub, resulting in the loss of 591 jobs. However, FTI Consulting has secured deals to save 41 sites and 1,582 jobs.
The affected Revolution Bars locations are Manchester (Oxford Road), Huddersfield, Leicester, Glasgow (Renfield Street), Cardiff, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Ipswich, Manchester (Parsonage Gardens), Plymouth, Durham, Exeter, and Preston. The Revolucion de Cuba sites affected are Cardiff, Derby, Liverpool, Reading, Harrogate, and Aberdeen, while the Peach Pub to be shut is The Almanack in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
This announcement comes as the industry grapples with rising costs, including new minimum pay levels and increased national insurance contributions, which have burdened pubs for years. Revel had previously undergone a major restructuring in 2024, closing 15 unprofitable bars, but the revamp failed to improve performance, leading to a strategic review and the group being placed up for sale. The company partly blamed weak trading, particularly among younger customers with limited disposable income, and higher costs that weighed on its bottom line and growing debt pile.
