In a bold move, the National Unity Platform (NUP) has ramped up its joint campaign efforts in Kassanda District, aiming to solidify its support base ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 general elections. This strategic approach is a testament to the party's determination to make its mark and challenge the status quo.

The latest rally, held at Kawungera Playground in Kiganda Town Council, was a powerful display of unity. It marked the second major event, following the initial launch in Myanzi, signaling a coordinated and well-planned campaign strategy. Kiganda Town Council, part of Kassanda South, was represented by MP Frank Kabuye, who emphasized the strength of their joint approach in delivering a unified message.
A Message of Hope and Commitment
Kabuye urged voters to stay loyal to the NUP, assuring them of the party's unwavering support and promising a bright future. He expressed confidence in the party's ability to make a difference, stating, "NUP is a sure win everywhere in Kassanda, and we are determined to make it happen."
But here's where it gets controversial... Flavia Nabagabe Kalule, the Woman MP for Kassanda, took aim at the long-serving NRM government, arguing that their leadership had failed to bring about the necessary development for the district. She called for a change, urging voters to support Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the NUP party president, and all their flag bearers, for a "New Uganda Now."

Nabagabe emphasized the importance of the Umbrella symbol, advising voters to stay focused and not be misled. She said, "The Umbrella represents our vision for a new Uganda. It's a symbol of hope and change."
The rally was a star-studded affair, attended by notable figures such as Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake, Busiro East NUP flag bearer Mathias Walukagga, and musician Nina Roz, who is also an aspiring Woman MP for Ssembabule District. MP Patrick Nsamba, representing Kassanda North, encouraged voters to support all NUP candidates, emphasizing the importance of unity and loyalty.
A Three-Way Battle
Kassanda District is a key battleground, with three constituencies up for grabs. NUP currently holds two of these seats, with Frank Kabuye representing Kassanda South and Patrick Nsamba Oshabe representing Kassanda North. The Woman MP seat is also held by NUP's Flavia Nabagabe Kalule. However, the NRM's Michael Bukenya represents the Bukuya Constituency, adding an interesting dynamic to the political landscape.
