New Executive Director's Vision: Boosting Airline Traffic at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (2026)

New Executive Director at Palmer Regional Airport: A Fresh Approach to Growing Airline Traffic

The Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is set to welcome a new executive director, Maurice "Moe" Haas, who brings a wealth of experience and a strategic vision to the Westmoreland County Airport Authority. With a focus on expanding the airport's capabilities and attracting more airlines, Haas aims to build upon the airport's existing strengths.

Maurice Haas, a 60-year-old seasoned professional, was appointed by the authority board on Tuesday, taking over from the retiring Gabe Monzo. The board's unanimous decision reflects the confidence in Haas's abilities, as he steps into a role that requires a deep understanding of airport operations and a commitment to growth.

Haas's journey at the airport began in the maintenance department, where he honed his skills. He later became the public safety director and has been the airport manager since February 2022. His extensive experience positions him as the ideal candidate to lead the airport's evolution.

The airport authority is currently undertaking a significant $24 million project to enhance the terminal. This expansion aims to increase passenger seating and provide more space for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents. Additionally, the project will introduce two new gates, enabling simultaneous passenger service for two airplanes.

Haas's primary goal is to maintain and potentially increase the airport's airline traffic. To achieve this, Monzo has been actively engaging with airlines, including Spirit Airlines, the sole commercial carrier serving Arnold Palmer Regional. Since December, Monzo has facilitated video discussions and marketing brief exchanges with five airlines, showcasing the airport's commitment to attracting new carriers.

Despite Spirit Airlines' financial challenges in bankruptcy court, the airport remains optimistic about its future. Monzo's efforts have laid the groundwork for potential partnerships, and Haas is eager to build upon this progress.

As Haas takes on the executive director role, the airport authority is poised for growth and innovation. With his leadership and the airport's strategic initiatives, the future looks bright for Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, setting the stage for increased airline traffic and improved travel experiences.
