The move from Aprilia to KTM last year brought Vinales into the spotlight as the Austrian brand's leading light in the first half of the season. Now, with the guidance of Jorge Lorenzo, Vinales is aiming to rediscover the 'killer' mentality that made him a force to be reckoned with even before his grand prix career.
Lorenzo, who knew of Vinales' reputation 'when he was eight years old', has a unique perspective on the rider's journey. 'Now his motivation is very high,' Lorenzo shared with the official MotoGP website. 'I don’t know if it’s higher than ever, because I wasn’t with him all of those years.' He believes that Vinales has lost his 'motivation or hunger to win' in the last five to six years, but with a new perspective and a fresh start, he is determined to help Vinales rediscover his killer instinct.
Vinales' future with KTM is uncertain, as he is expected to replace Pedro Acosta at the brand's factory squad. However, the team is also linked to Alex Marquez, adding to the intrigue.
