Get ready for a radio revolution in Charlotte! Radio One is about to shake things up with a bold move that's sure to spark some debate. The airwaves are about to get a whole lot more interesting!
On December 11th, Radio One will initiate a four-station frequency shuffle, a move that will undoubtedly turn heads and get people talking. Here's the scoop:
The iconic News/Talk station, 1110 WBT Charlotte, is about to get a major upgrade. It's moving to the FM dial, specifically 107.9, which was once home to the legendary WBT-FM. This powerful 100kW Class C signal will now carry the trusted voices of WBT, making it easier for listeners to tune in and stay connected.
But here's where it gets controversial... the Hot AC format, currently on Mix 107.9 (WLNK), will be relocating to the Gospel station, Praise 100.9 (WPZS). This move will give the Hot AC brand a boost, as it will now be broadcast on a pair of Class A rimshot signals. Imagine your favorite Hot AC tunes with an extra kick!
And this is the part most people miss... the Gospel format and WPZS calls will then move to Hip Hop station, 102.5 The Block (WFNZ/WOSF-HD2). It's a unique twist that showcases the versatility of these radio stations and their commitment to serving diverse audiences.
General Manager Marsha Landess sums it up perfectly: "We're excited to bring WBT to the forefront of the FM dial, ensuring its trusted voices reach even more listeners. These strategic moves reinforce our dedication to providing Charlotte with top-notch local programming, news, and entertainment."
So, what do you think of this radio shakeup? Is it a brilliant move or a controversial decision? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Radio One is certainly making waves, and we can't wait to see how this unfolds.
